April 26, 2013 –Honolulu, Hawaii– Element Media, Inc., Hawai’i’s foremost custom publishing firm, will host the exclusive 3rd Annual Pacific Edge Magazine Business Achievement Awards Gala on Thursday, May 30th, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at The Waterfront at Aloha Tower Marketplace. This red carpet gala highlights the impressive achievements of Hawai’i’s leading companies, business professionals, non-profit organizations and outstanding K-12 educators.
Every year, Pacific Edge Magazine recognizes a seasoned veteran of the business community that has repeatedly gone beyond standard professional obligations to make his or her work place thrive, routinely demonstrates service to others and leads by example. The recipient of the 2013 Pacific Edge Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to:
Mr. Melvin Tanioka, President of Tanioka’s Seafoods & Catering
In 1978, Mr. Tanioka founded Tanioka’s Seafoods & Catering in a 1,000 square-foot space with four employees. Today, this hallmark, family-run Hawai’i business occupies over 7,000 square-feet and supports over a hundred dedicated workers. Due to Mr. Tanioka’s commitment to family and excellence, his company has been awarded the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Family-Run Business Award, Hawai’i’s Best as named by the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and Midweek among many other prestigious commendations. Foremost, Mr. Tanioka was paramount in founding the Tanioka’s Charity Foundation – a 501(c)3 non-profit organization supporting Hawai’i’s leading philanthropic causes such as The American Cancer Society, American Liver Foundation and Alzheimer’s Association.
Element Media, Inc. received over an astounding one hundred nominations from a variety of distinguished businesses, non-profits and academic institutions throughout Hawai’i. Award nominations were collected and judged by an independent panel of six, highly regarded community leaders. This year, a new category was added – the Non-Profit Impact Award – “recognizing an outstanding Hawai’i non-profit organization, whose notable performance and delivery to the community sets a high standard of quality and impact.”
“I always look forward to our Pacific Edge Magazine Business Achievement Awards because it is so important to recognize the innovative individuals and organizations that make Hawai’i such an incredibly rewarding place to conduct business,” said Naomi Hazelton-Giambrone, co-founder of Element Media, Inc. and co-publisher of Pacific Edge Magazine. “This year, I’m especially excited to incorporate our new Non-Profit Impact Award because giving back to others and supporting philanthropic endeavors is at the very core of our business community.”
