ROCKIN’ THE RED CARPET: TIPS FROM FASHION STYLIST KYLE KAGAMIDA

May 15, 2013 Posted by admin PEM BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love a red carpet moment. Gowns are probably my favorite things to put a client in whether it’s for a premiere, an award show or even for an editorial. But I must say, that at times, there is nothing chicer or sexier than a woman in menswear. What Hedi Slimane has done for Saint Laurent is nothing short of perfection. She has brought menswear for women back to the most desired level.

Obviously, Hawaii is a little different. We don’t get black tie events very often and when it does come around everyone wants to wear beads and feathers and they think that they’re working the main stage at the Golden Nugget (and, yes – that was a reference to The Devil Wears Prada). So, for this event I’m suggesting something a little different. For those of you who are fashion savvy enough to try something new and push the boundaries a little, I say to go for pants. Wear that tuxedo (ala Anne Hathaway hosting the Oscars in Tom Ford) and feel – not only pretty and fabulous – but also strong and innovative. Nothing says sexy like a woman with confidence.

Here are two different ways to rock the look, the first is a little more to the point, a tuxedo as simple as it gets.

The second is the Saint Laurent way. With an oversized bow, ankle length skin tight pants and a sequin jacket. Try it and I can assure you, you’ll never want another skirt again!
