Take a cue from Cannes and go sleek and streamlined. As much as sequin and volume screams black tie and glamour, there’s nothing like a streamlined dress. Think Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, and Chanel. It’s very easy to over accessorize when going with a streamlined simple dress. While it is the perfect canvas to do a masterpiece of jewels and diamonds by the yard, remember that you’re not a 5-year-old playing dress up in your mom’s closet!
A great pair of diamond studs, tennis bracelet, a great choker or statement necklace is all you really need. One or two pieces of jewelry max, and keep the shoe simple as well. I’m all about the 6-inch platform heel – believe me –but lately it seems like we’re going back to the silhouette that Manolo Blahnik made so iconic. A good 3-or 4-inch heel with no platform –strappy of course (just like Carrie Bradshaw loved), simple and to the point.
